Missions

Helping people take their next step with Jesus across the globe.

Why Missions Matter

Missions are the ways we join Jesus’ work beyond the immediate needs of our local church. We believe the church is called to make disciples of all people, to send those who go, and to support them through prayer, encouragement, and generosity. That’s why Capital West partners with ministries, missionaries, and organizations that are helping people meet Jesus, grow in faith, and be served in tangible ways.

WHAT THEY DO
Camp MoCoMi is a Christian summer camp and retreat ministry that challenges children and youth to encounter Jesus and mature in their faith. Their summer camp and worship retreats blend worship, Bible teaching, small group time, and recreation to help young people own their faith, not just inherit it from their parents.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
The formative experiences of childhood and youth often set the trajectory of a person's life with God. Camp is a powerful discipleship tool available to a local church, and MoCoMi has been doing this faithfully for decades. Supporting them is an investment in the next generation of disciples right here in Missouri.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Send a child or teenager to camp, volunteer as camp faculty for a week, or give financially to help sponsor campers who couldn't otherwise attend. Talk to our kid's ministry or our student ministry teams about registration and scholarship opportunities.

WHAT THEY DO

The Campus House at the University of Central Missouri (Dig Deeper) helps college students discover and build a deeper relationship with Jesus through community, teaching, and discipleship during one of the most pivotal seasons of life.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM

The college years are when many people either solidify their faith or walk away from it. Investing in college ministry is one of the highest-leverage things a church can do. Students discipled now become the missionaries and leaders of the next generation.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Connect UCM students you know with the Campus House. You can also give financially or pray for the students and staff navigating campus life in the name of Jesus.

WHAT THEY DO

CCH at Missouri State provides a caring fellowship where college-age students can find and expand their relationship with God, and be equipped to be doers of the Word, not just hearers. They pursue authentic community and genuine discipleship on one of Missouri's largest campuses.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM

Every college campus is a mission field teeming with young people asking life's biggest questions. CCH at MSU positions a faithful community right in the middle of that searching, offering the gospel and real Christian friendship as the answer.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Connect students you know at MSU with CCH. Consider giving to support their staff and programs. College ministry staff are often among the most underfunded missionaries in America.

WHAT THEY DO
CCH at Mizzou offers students opportunities to grow deeper in their faith by meeting people exactly where they are. They believe every student deserves a community where they can explore faith honestly and grow in it genuinely.
WHY WE SUPPORT THEM

Mizzou is a flagship university with enormous reach across Missouri and beyond. Faithful campus ministry there plants seeds that bear fruit for decades in students who return to communities across the state as disciples of Jesus.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Send students there, give financially, or pray specifically for their staff and student leaders navigating a challenging secular campus environment with grace and conviction.

WHAT THEY DO

Christian Prison Ministry of Mid-America evangelizes prisoners, encourages and equips incarcerated Christians, and calls the broader church to take prison ministry seriously across Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Illinois.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM

Jesus visited the prisoner (Matthew 25:36). So must the Church. CPMM-A reaches people society has largely given up on and they find that the gospel transforms lives behind bars just as powerfully as anywhere else.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Give financially, pray for their volunteers and the men and women they serve, or consider whether God might be calling you to prison ministry yourself. Talk to our missions team to learn more.

WHAT THEY DO

CRAM evangelizes and meets the physical needs of people in the communist countries of Asia. They carry out benevolent works, meeting tangible needs as a bridge to the gospel in China, Cambodia, and the Philippines, where traditional missionary access is severely limited.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM

Some of the most populous countries on earth have the fewest gospel workers. CRAM navigates politically hostile environments with wisdom and courage. We support them because closed doors don't eliminate the need, they just mean someone must go anyway.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Give to support their benevolent ministry and evangelism. Pray specifically for the safety and fruitfulness of those doing this work in places where Christianity is restricted or persecuted.

WHAT THEY DO
The Bensons study the Bible with believers and non-believers, share the gospel, and coach and train local disciple-makers in a region of the world where the Church has very little presence. Frontiers as an organization works specifically to reach Muslim communities with the gospel.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
North Africa is among the hardest places in the world to bring the gospel, and that's exactly why someone must go. The Bensons have answered that call, uprooting their family to live and serve in an unfamiliar and at times dangerous context. Capital West walks alongside them through consistent prayer and financial support because we believe every person on earth deserves to hear the name of Jesus.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support the Bensons' living and ministry needs. Pray regularly for their family's safety, for open doors in a spiritually resistant region, and for the people they are building relationships with.

WHAT THEY DO
Healing House and New Beginnings assists women suffering from substance use disorder in rebuilding their shattered lives through a "Program of Action" rooted in the living Word of God. They provide safe housing, practical education, and faith-based discipleship to help women grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ right here in Jefferson City.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Addiction doesn't disqualify anyone from grace. The women who come through Healing House's doors are our neighbors, and Jesus calls us to love our neighbors concretely, not just in the abstract. This ministry meets women at their lowest point and walks patiently alongside them toward lasting restoration. That's the gospel in action.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give financially to sustain their housing and programming. Donate needed items, or pray for the staff and the women currently going through the program. As a local ministry, there are also plenty of volunteer opportunities. You can find more info at the website below.

WHAT THEY DO
Life of Hope Ministries exists to rescue street children and high-risk families across Latin America. Working through trusted partners in Guatemala, they address the educational, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of children who have no safe place to call home. Their work brings stability, dignity, and the hope of the gospel to some of the most vulnerable kids in the Western Hemisphere.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
When Jesus said "let the children come to me," he meant all children, including the forgotten ones. Capital West members have personally traveled to Guatemala with Life of Hope, witnessing firsthand how the gospel takes on flesh in the lives of kids society has discarded. That personal connection is part of why we invest in this work financially and prayerfully.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Pray, give, sponsor ongoing needs, and watch for future trips or special opportunities connected to Life of Hope.

WHAT THEY DO
The Literature and Teaching Ministry in Joplin publishes reliable, doctrinally sound Bible teaching materials in multiple languages for the church as it grows in different parts of the world. They exist to make sure that believers in developing or underserved regions have access to quality Scripture-based teaching tools in a language they can truly understand and use.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
A new believer in a developing country needs more than a Bible. They need solid teaching, discipleship resources, and theology they can access in their own heart language. LATM multiplies the impact of faithful Bible teaching across cultures and languages, strengthening the global body of Christ from a base right here in Missouri.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support the production and distribution of multilingual teaching materials. Pray for the churches around the world that depend on these resources for their growth, and for the continued faithfulness of the LATM team in Joplin.

WHAT THEY DO
Capital West directly supports Jacob and Addison Rice and their young children, who are serving with Mustard Seed Networks — a ministry focused on planting gospel-centered churches in Japan's largest cities. The Rices are living in Sapporo, building relationships and laying the groundwork for lasting church communities in a city, and a country, with very little Christian presence.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Japan has only one church for roughly every 16,700 people, and less than 1% of its population claims faith in Christ. It is one of the largest unreached mission fields in the world. The Rices have brought their family to the other side of the globe to begin changing that; one relationship, one conversation, one church plant at a time. We walk with them because the Great Commission doesn't stop at the water's edge.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support the Rices' living and ministry costs as they build a new life and a new church in Japan. Sign up for their newsletter to stay connected with what God is doing through their work, and pray for them; for language learning, for meaningful relationships, and for the people of Sapporo to encounter Jesus.

WHAT THEY DO
Eric and Christa Harland are translating the Bible into the language of the "J people," an unreached people group in East Asia whose name is withheld to protect the security of this sensitive ministry. Bible translation in restricted regions requires extraordinary patience, skill, and courage.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
An entire people group exists without God's Word in their own language. The Harlands have given years of their lives to change that. Revelation 7:9 promises that people from every language will stand before the throne, and the Harlands are working to make that promise a reality for the J people.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give directly to support the Harlands' work and living needs. Most importantly: pray for them. The work of Bible translation in a sensitive, restricted region depends on the sustained intercession of the church back home.

WHAT THEY DO
Outreach International recruits, trains, and serves missionary volunteers for work overseas, with a particular focus on areas that are unreached with the gospel or are especially difficult to enter. Their organizational infrastructure equips and deploys workers to places where the need for the gospel is greatest and the barriers to access are highest.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Sending missionaries requires more than a willing person. It requires an organization that can prepare them, place them well, and sustain them for the long term. Outreach International provides exactly that kind of support structure, making it possible for people like the Harlands to do the kind of deep, long-horizon work that the hardest mission fields require.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support the organizational work that enables their field missionaries to thrive. If you've ever felt a pull toward international missions, Outreach International may be the right starting point for discerning and pursuing that calling.

WHAT THEY DO
Ozark Christian College's mission is to train men and women for Christian service. As a ministry-focused institution with deep roots in the Restoration Movement, OCC equips students theologically, practically, and spiritually for a lifetime of faithful work in churches, missions, and ministry of every kind. Several people from Capital West have attended or are currently attending OCC.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Every missionary, minister, and church leader who serves faithfully was formed somewhere. Ozark forms them well. By investing in Christian higher education, Capital West invests in the future of the Church; the pastors, teachers, translators, and missionaries who will carry the gospel forward long after we're gone.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support students pursuing ministry training at OCC. Encourage young people in our congregation to consider a season of intentional ministry formation, or pray for the faculty and students being shaped for lives of Christian service.

WHAT THEY DO
Pioneer Bible Translators disciples the Bibleless, mobilizing God's people to provide God's Word in every language. With over 600 language groups still waiting for Scripture, PBT is committed to reaching the most marginalized communities on earth through translation, church planting, and discipleship.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Bible translation is slow, painstaking, and absolutely essential. Everything the Church does downstream depends on people being able to encounter God's Word in a language that reaches their heart, not just their ears. PBT does that work with excellence and conviction, and the network of churches and partners they cultivate makes the whole mission sustainable over the long haul.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give to support Amy's role at Pioneer Bible Translators. Reach out to her directly to stay connected with her work and pray for the language communities PBT is currently serving.

WHAT THEY DO
Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch provides Christian homes for abused, neglected, and at-risk children in Northeast Missouri, attending to each child's spiritual, emotional, educational, social, and physical needs. They don't simply house children; they give them a real home, a real family, and a safe place to heal and grow within a Christ-centered environment.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
James 1:27 describes pure and genuine religion as caring for orphans and the vulnerable. Shiloh is that verse made visible in Northeast Missouri. The children who come through their doors have already endured more hardship than most adults ever will. They deserve safety, love, and the deep knowledge that they are made in the image of God and that they matter.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give financially to fund their homes and the staff who pour themselves into these kids. Donate needed supplies, pray for the children and their house parents, or explore whether your family might be called to foster care or child advocacy.

WHAT THEY DO
Show Me Christian Youth Home provides safe, stable, and loving homes for young people struggling because of difficult or dangerous circumstances in their current home environment. Located right here in Central Missouri, they walk alongside youth who need more than just a place to stay, they need a family.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
Loving our neighbors means loving the most vulnerable among them. The young people at Show Me didn't choose their circumstances, and they need the Church to show up for them. Show Me is doing exactly that, and because this is a Central Missouri ministry, these are our neighbors in the most literal sense.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give financially, volunteer your time, or donate goods they need to serve the youth in their care. As a local ministry, there are real and direct opportunities to be involved.

WHAT THEY DO
Sojourn Collegiate Ministry operates on college campuses across New England, reaching students who may have given up on church but haven't given up on God. Meeting students with honesty and without religious pretense, they create space for real questions, real doubt, and real faith, in one of the most unchurched regions in the United States.

WHY WE SUPPORT THEM
New England has some of the lowest rates of church attendance in America, yet its universities are full of young people quietly wrestling with the biggest questions of their lives. Sojourn goes to them where they are. This is frontier mission work, not overseas, but just as much in need of faithful laborers who will show up for the spiritually wandering and stay long enough to walk with them home.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Give financially to sustain their work in a region where the Church is thin but the need is very real. Pray specifically for students in New England who are at a crossroads with faith, that Sojourn would be there to meet them in that moment.
